In this album we show you some of Key West Florida’s most famous attractions both from the ground and of course from the air. Key West Florida is the southern most point of the continental United States and is located on the island of Key West. The island is only 7.4 sq miles with an elevation of 18′.
Key West is a city in Monroe County, Florida, United States. The city encompasses the island of Key West, the part of Stock Island north of U.S. 1 (the Overseas Highway) (east), Sigsbee Park (north, originally known as Dredgers Key), Fleming Key (north), and Sunset Key (west, originally known as Tank Island). Both Fleming Key and Sigsbee Park are part of Naval Air Station Key West and are inaccessible by civilians. Key West is the county seat of Monroe County. Key West is the southernmost city in the Continental United States. It also contains the southern terminus of U.S. 1, State Road A1A, the East Coast Greenway and, before 1935, the Florida East Coast Railway.
Key West is 129 miles (208 km) southwest (229.9 degrees) of Miami, Florida, (about 160 miles (260 km) by car) and 106 miles (171 km) north-northeast (21.2 degrees) of Havana, Cuba. Cuba, at its closest point, is 94 statute miles (151 km) south. Key West is a seaport destination for many passenger cruise ships. The Key West International Airport provides airline service. Hotels and guest houses are available for lodging. Naval Air Station Key West is an important year round training site for naval aviation due to the superb weather conditions. It is also a reason the city was chosen as the Winter White House of President Harry S. Truman. The central business district primarily comprises Duval Street, and includes much of the northwest corner of the island along Whitehead, Simonton, Front, Greene, Caroline, and Eaton Streets and Truman Avenue. The official city motto is “One Human Family.”
Hurricanes rarely impact Key West, and the island has been relatively unaffected by major storms. Some locals maintain that Hurricane Wilma on October 24, 2005, was the worst storm in memory. The entire island was told to evacuate and business owners were forced to shut their doors. After the hurricane had passed, the resulting storm surge sent eight feet of water inland completely inundating a large portion of the lower Keys. Low-lying areas of Key West and the lower Keys, including major tourist destinations, were under as much as three feet of water. Sixty percent of the homes in Key West were flooded. The higher parts of Old Town, such as the Solares Hill and cemetery areas, did not flood, because of their higher elevations of 12 to 18 feet (5.5 m). The surge destroyed tens of thousands of cars throughout the lower Keys, and many houses were flooded with one to two feet of sea water. A local newspaper referred to Key West and the lower Keys as a “car graveyard.

DroneVU Studios went on location to John Chestnut Park located at 2200 East Lake Road Palm Harbor, FL 34685 to film another segment of the Landmark Series.
John Chestnut Park is home to various wildlife including raccoons, alligators, various waterfowl, hawks, vultures, tortoises/turtles and more.
Lake Tarpon, immediately adjacent, is five miles long and one mile wide, generally 8-12 feet deep. Lake Tarpon can accommodate boats with combustion engines. Additionally, a canoe trail is a landlocked waterway connected to an interior lake, but can only accommodate non-combustion engines.
For those who prefer sports, a softball field—bring your own equipment. There are three nature trails, each approximately 3,000 feet in length. The North Trail begins at Shelter #10, running through a cypress swamp to the canoe trail—it does not loop back. The Peggy Park Trail features a self-guided. The elevated boardwalk runs along the boat ramp, leading to an elevated lookout tower for a scenic overview of Lake Tarpon. Swimming is prohibited inside the park.

While returning from an aerial video shoot our staff spotted a Kodak moment in the form of a multi-million dollar yacht being built / maintained at Tampa’s shipyards. So of course we had to get in on the action.
In this aerial drone video we bring you high definition aerial video of the yacht while it is above water. If you look closely you can see the workers hard at work on the antenna cluster at the top and the upper decks.
We wrap up with some picturesque views of the Tampa Bay skyline, and show a quick glimpse of the Crosstown.
